TV-shows are my great passion There aren't many, from which I haven't seen at least a few episodes. So it was hard work to pick out my absolute favorite ones, but here they are.

In 1993 I saw for the first time ever an episode of Who's the Boss?. It was episode 8.07 Death and Love, part 1. And I
loved this show, right from the first moment. From then on I watched every episode (they were aired daily from Monday to Friday) and felt a great sadness when the last episode was aired.
Fortunately there was an immediate re-run of the show, so I was able to watch it again, right from the beginning. After the completion of this re-run, another followed and I began to write
transcripts of every episode (I didn't own a VCR a that time). I also bought every TV magazine I could find, if there was a picture of the show within.
Here some pictures of my show transcripts:
I can't really define why I love this show so much ... there are great sympathetic characters, great actors with this certain chemistry between each other, great stories with humor but also dramatic elements ... all I can say is that Who's the Boss? is still my absolute favorite TV show.

What if all the fairy tale characters you know would actually live in just another dimension? What if the stories of them would just be more or less different than you think they are? What if by the means of an evil curse they would all live in a small town in Maine, just not knowing who they really are?
I was curious about the show, but also sceptical - however, I became a fan when I watched the first episode. The characters - especially Rumplestiltskin aka Mr. Gold - the setting, the way the story is told ... all of it is just great. So, I not just liked the show, it became one of my absolute fav ones.

The concept, that there secretly live creatures different from humans amongst us, isn't really new (it was used in Moonlight, Sanctuary and Special Unit 2 for example, TV shows I also like). However, Lost Girl is different. It is the characters, their relationships, the special sort of self-irony and slight humour, that makes it to one of my all time fav TV shows. Once you began to watch it, you'll begin to care about Bo and Kenzi and the others, they are somehow real persons (thanks to the actors and the writers).

Oh my word, what a wonderful series. The relationship, the love between Catherine and Vincent is surely one of the most romantic ones in TV
history. The world below is like the fantasy version of another planet and in many ways a better world than the one above. In the world below there are no preoccupations founded on someone’s
outer appearance, it is the inner beauty, the character of somebody that matters. And that is an advance that we still haven't achieved in the real world, in spite of all so called political
correctness.
Sadly, Linda Hamilton left the show when she got pregnant. However, the third season brings the story to a satisfying end - but they should have stopped it with the episode "Invictus", with the son of Catherine and Vincent coming home.

Alyssa Milano is my favorite actress, since I saw her starring in Who's the Boss?. Also I am a big fan of the fantastic genre in TV,
movies, books, ... So it is clear I couldn't wait t watch Alyssa's new show. Well, in the beginning it was nice, but nothing special. But the show developed, found it's own line and became one of
the best shows in TV history (as would I say). It's not "the evil of the week" that's so interesting, it's the relationships between the characters, the touch of self-irony that shimmers through
sometimes, it's how the show puts together a lot of mythological elements in it's own interpretation and creates something new out of it.
Doctor Who is the longest-running science fiction television show in the world and the most successful science fiction series of all time. However, in Germany it's rather unknown ... that's why I discovered it so late. It was 2008, when I more or less by chance saw the episode The Satan Pit (Part 2). Although it was the second part of an two-part episode and I didn't really understood everything that happened, I was fascinated. So I watched the following episodes for the next four weeks. Unfortunately series 3 wasn't aired in Germany until 2012. However, in March 2009 Torchwood was aired in Germany, and I liked it very much, too. I liked it even so much, I joined an forum for the first time in my life. So I came in contact with Doctor Who again and there was this gap between season 1 and season 2, where Jack travelled with the Doctor. I wanted to see what happened and bought the Doctor Who DVDs. And I really fall in love with the show. So it's no wonder I was interested in the classic show, too. And it was great, too.
I became really a big, big fan of the Whoniverse, I watched every episode of Doctor Who, Torchwood
and The Sarah Jane Adventures several times, I got the audio plays, the
books, ... Well, not really every episode of Doctor Who - when Stephen Moffat became show runner he made something different out of ofit, something I really don't like. I liked the Moffat
episodes in earlier seasons less, too. Finally, I don't like the way Matt Smith plays the Doctor, either. I hoped it would be became bette by time, but it didn't, so I stopped watching Doctor Who
by the mid of season 6. To me, the show ends with the episode The End of Time, part
2.
My favorite Doctors are the 10th, the 4th and the 2nd
So, what is so special about Doctor Who?
Well, mainly it's a sci-fi-show, but cause
the Doctor can travel anywhere in time an space, there are also episodes that are more a western story, or a crime story, or wahtever. Also, the Doctor himself is kind of a rebel, a free spirit
and like the Briagrdier once said " ... a wonderful chap - all of them!". The show is full of surprises, one can never be sure of anything. And there are a lot o fascinating characters in
it.

Often entitled as "Muppets in space" (probably by people who never seen an episode), Farscape is in fact a show with realistic and
sympathetic characters, full of drama, suspense and one of the greatest love stories in the galaxy (John and Aeryn). It was, like Doctor Who, different from most other sci-fi shows,
cause the main characters were not strong an brave heroes, fighting for the right - they were a bunch of very different people, they were (in the beginning) together cause they had no other
choice. It was also great to see some aliens, which not just differ from humans by pointed ears or a strange formed forehead. All this plus some really great story lines formed one of the best
sci fi shows ever. Oh, how I wish there would come a reunion film ...

My favourite TV-genres are Sci-fi and sitcom - and Alf is a mixture of both. That John Barrowman plays

It's both epic and fun. The story of the twelve colonies, the Cylon war and the search for Earth are epic, the characters are fun. I mean, Starbuck and Apollo, they are so sympathetic ... The show is a great mixture of an epic story arc and the upcoming easiness of the 1980s.

A bunch of eccentric lawyers, linked in a tangled relationship braid, dealing with litigations, some of which are extremely bizarre, but
partly also raise moral and social issues. And in the centre of the events: Danny Crane (William Shatner) and Alan Shore (James Spader), who sits evening for evening on the balcony, discussing
what happened while smoking cigars and drinking scotch and giving wonderfully politically incorrect comments.
Bill Shatner's Danny Crane is almost better than his James T. Kirk, he played with a perfect dose of self-irony and James Spaders special way to look (caused by his low vision) gave his character Alan Shore that certain something. Together, they are irresistible.

Columbo is different from most other crime shows. In the beginning the murder is shown, you know who the murderer is and you know
Lieutenant Columbo will catch him in the end. And between the murder and the arrest there are just a lot of conversations. There is absolutely no action in the show, no moments of danger. It
seems also not very realistic, that Columbo always meet the murderer and know he or she is it. So, why is Columbo so great, why became it such a cult? - Just because! It is great fun to watch how
the sentient feeling murderers are caught by this cranky and submissive acting little Lieutenant, who always has just one more thing to ask. It's thrilling to wait for the one little detail, that
will break their neck. It's entertaining to observe the game between the murderer and Columbo. And it's the play of Peter Falk, who made his Lieutenant Columbo such a remarkable character.
I've seen all epodes so often, I know them almost by heart - but make always another rewatch.

So, some criminals from the future flee into our time, pursued by a female police officer ... what did I expect? A "bad guy of the week"-show,
in which the police officer catches week by week one of the fugitives ... something like that. But what a surprise! Continuum doesn’t follow this scheme, on the contrary, it has a very
complex Story to tell, with intelligent time travel ideas and strong, interesting and realistic characters. It is absolutely unpredictable what will happen next, and also you can't really tell in
every case who's a bad guy and who's a good guy.
In the 1980s and 1990s Dallas was a world wide phenomenon. J.R. and the Ewing clan were characters everybody knows. When the show was aired, almost everyone was watching - and so was I, too. In Germany it was aired on Tuesdays at 9.45 pm. And nothing, absolutely nothing, could have prevented me and my parents from watching it. After the show we discussed the events we had just seen. J.R. was my fav character - although everybody else on the world seemed to hate him. He wasn't really a bad person, he just wanted his Dad being proud of him and being successful in business was the only way he could achieve his aim. When the show ended, I was really sad. Not only because I had to say good bye to characters I knew more than half of my life, not only because I would miss the weekly tension, but also because the final episode wasn't really good and showed J.R. in a light I didn't like.
Later I bought the DVDs, of course. And although I knew most of the time what was going to happen, it was great fun to watch one of the most impressive shows from my childhood an teenage years again.
So when the continuation was announced in 2011 I was pleased but also very sceptical. I mean, a lot of TV classics were rebooted or continued nowadays and most of them are rather bad. However, Dallas 2012 is one of the rare exceptions, it is a great as the original show.
Very sadly, Larry Hagman passed away in 2013, and with him also his character J.R., who was one of the corner stones of the show. However, the producers handled it very well to put in J.R.'s death in the show. I have to admit, watching the special opening scene to honour Larry Hagman, made me cry.
I hope, the show will still run for many years, the next generation of the Ewings and Barnes got a lot of potential.

Somehow it's old fashioned (I mean that positive), somehow it's up to date. The own of Defiance reminds me of an old western town, and Joshua Nolan is kind of a western character. The Tarr family n the other hand, with all the intrigues and struggle fpr power, reminds me of the Ewings. And it all takes place in a sort of post apocalyptic world ... It's a great mixture.

It was very impressive how the show defined itself new season by season. The reasons why the show was finally cancelled are so ... abstruse. I really cannot understand why a good running show is cancelled by the studio, just to save a few Dollars. They should be thankful for every successful TV show, most new shows don't run very long ...

First I was curious about the show for Colm Meaney starring in it. Since Star Trek TNG I like this
actor a lot. However, I had no great expectations - but Hell on Wheels surprised me. It's a hard, but realistic picture of the Wild West, that's shown in the series. It's epic. And both,
characters and actors are just fantastic. Furthermore, it is realictic in another way, too: There are no good and bad ones, everybody is a real person, with good and bad sides.
Somehow it is like an ancient drama, with tragic heroes, moved by powers greater than temselves.
Is it somehow trashy? - Yes!
Is it somehow realistic? - No!
Is it fun to watch? - Yes!
It's a very free interpretation of the ancient myths and later it becomes even a mix of different mythologies. Hercules and Xena acts in their own world, not really in our past. And this world is a wonderful place, with it's own rules.
Hercules - The legendary Journeys also has a big portion of self irony, Kevin Sorbo plays that very well.
Xena - Warrior Princess is more dramatic.

The actors play together in perfect harmony.
A great number of running gags like Tim always bumping his head when he walks into a cellar or the many ways Wilson's face was hidden.
Tim ... I can so understand him. He loves working with power tools, it's his great desire and although he is "not as good as he think he is" and he got injured so often, he never gives up. I watched my first House-episode while I was waiting for another show. TV-shows about doctors and hospitals are usually not my preferred genre (there are exceptions), and so I expected nothing special. However, House is different. It's the main character who makes the difference. Gregory House is not the typical nice doctor who cares about his patients and can't sleep cause the mean so much to him. He is misanthropic, sarcastic, drug-addicted and he doesn't care about conventions. He lives out what others only think and dream of. It is such fun to watch him spinning his intrigues, shocking others with his behaviour and talking rude to patients and their relatives. He doesn't care about what others might think about him, and so he is in his way much more honest than most people. Also his little fight with Dr. Cuddy are always big fun. So, I'm a fan of House, cause I love watching the character Gregory House - the "patient of the week" is much less interesting to me, it's needed for the show, but not really of great importance.

An astronaut and a djinni - two worlds collide! And watching it is great fun. Not only because all the trouble and the absurd situations Jeannie brings her master in (and out), but also for the great work o the actors. They all fitted in their roles perfectly. And although in most episodes almost the same storyline happened (Jeannie wants to do her master a favour, that promptly brings Tony a lot of trouble; Dr. Bellows discovers that something strange is happening; Jeannie, Tony and Roger are able to make things right again - and Dr. Bellows doesn't understand the world once more), it is every time big fun watching the variations of the theme. It is a bit like Columbo, you know what will happen, but not how it will happen.

The show is creepy.

And the show got a good portion of humor: Ichobod Crane and the 21. century!
It's often said, people who love Star Trek don't like Stargate and vice versa. Well, I love both franchises and I think, I love them for the same reasons, they both deal with great and very sympathetic characters.
While watching SG-1 it is always fun to see the interacting between the team members, how Jack got this face when Sam or Daniel talk some sort of technobabble, the dry humour of Teal'c, to listen to the conversations between SG-1 and the bad guys, to feel the tension between Jack and Sam ,... Yes, the original SG-1 team is my favourite one, but I also like the other SG-1 team constellations very much. There was every time something special about them. And I like the slight humour of the show.
When SGA was aired the first time, I liked it immediately. It was more epic, more dramatic than the original show, but it had the same feeling and also the characters are very sympathetic.
Now, I have to say, I don't like SGU as much as SG-1 and SGA. It's a great sci-fi show though, but I miss the special Stargate feeling.
I grew up with Star Trek. One of my earliest memories is watching TOS on a black-and-white television. Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Dr. McCoy, Lt, Uhura, Scotty, Sulu and Chekov are the first TV characters I became a fan of. It was TOS that made me a sci-fi fan and I not just only watched the show, I read the books, the comics, I bought the merchandise ... When the USS Enterprise made it on the big screen, I was thrilled. Especially the movies II, III and IV are just great, they are to me the best of TOS. What made TOS so special, was not the sci-fi elements, it was the characters, their relationships and their interacting. And it was the message of a positive future.
When TNG started I was both curious and sceptic. And I have to say, the first episodes were not really so good ... however, at a certain point, the new show had found it's own line and it became better and better. Like it was with TOS, the best episodes are the character episodes. The sci-fi elements are only means for the purpose, again the persons are the important element. And I have to commit, TNG became my fav Star Trek show.
I also like DS9, VOY and ENT a lot, and I can't understand why ENT had to end when it was at it's best ...
What I really don't like is what JJ Abrams made out of it. I watched the first Abrams Trek movie (I just can't call it Star Trek) and still try to forget I ever saw it. There is nothing from the Star Trek feeling, the spirit in it ...

I was a little sceptic when I first heard about this series. There are a lot of filmic adaptions of Stephen King's books, but most of them are not really good. However, this series is good, it's extraordinary good. It's thrilling, it's intense ... can't wait for season 2!
Season 2 began with some shocking moments - great!
