My life so far

Once upon a time ...

... a man and a woman fell in love. And as they did, what people in love normally do, it's no wonder, their love was blessed with a wonderful  son ...

... well, a more or less wonderful son ...

I was born in 1968, which was quite an interesting year. Unfortunately, the town I had to spend the next years, was a boring, tiny Hicksville in a boring, little land called Germany.

I lived quite a normal life, went to school, did my community service ( I refused military service. I began to study medicine, then changed, however, to subjects that intersted me more: History, Auxiliary Historical Sciences and Classical Archeology. It was fun, but not what I wanted to spend the rest of my life with (and getting a job in this disciplines is ... quite difficult).

So, after University I did a lot of things to earn money, I would call myself being a survivalist, a master in the art of living. And I spent more time for my interests, my hobbies - the things that are really important to me.

Beliefs

Many years ago I became a vegetarian, as I don't believe I have the right to take an animal's life just to have something to eat that I don't really need. I don't believe a human is in any way better or of higher value than an animal. So, to me killing a human and killing an animal, it is both murder. For the same reason I don't use any kind of animal products, no leather, no fur, no whatever.

So, I have my moral standards, but I'm not religious. I don't believe in a god or other superior being. I am an Atheist and left the Church many years ago. To be honest, I can't even understand, how someone could believe in a god nowadays - I mean scientifically not so developed cultures needed a god or some gods to explain how the world functions, but today we know the scientific facts ... However, I respect someones religious conviction, but also expect my beliefs to be respected.

An ironically fact of my life

It's an interesting fact that almost all my friends are women. However, all the women in my life just want to be befriended to me. So I'm still looking for "the one" ...

My biggest wish

For many years now, I have the great desire to leave Germany (a country I just don't fit in) and to emigrate to the USA (the nation I love most). I hope, I can make this dream come true in the near future. I would love to live in New York or San Francisco.

Why am I called Ducky?

Well, I am a great fan of Donald Duck and when I first joined a forum, I chose "Herr Duck" (that's German for "Mister Duck") as my nickname. When I joined other forums, I stayed by the name. Now, as it sounds a little formally, people began to call me Ducky. Not only in the internet, but in real life, too. Even my mother has started to call me by my nickname Ducky by now.
